MAVA 444, MAVA 446, and Master’s Thesis (last update:09 August 2022)

Here we present sample ideas for the forthcoming 444 and 446 projects starting from Spring 2023. Some of the ideas below are a part larger projects, and their content can become a master’s thesis.

  • Creating a digital hobby space for older peope that supports collective living
  • Designing a toolkit for teaching basic electronics to older people (Especially soft textile usage)

Local Neighborhoods

  • Collective caring for animals in neighbourhoods
  • Analysis and design implications for different forms of local neighbourhood projects (tohum takasi, ekokoyler, grassroot festivals,…)

Access and Design

  • Analysing the accessibility of entertainment events such as concerts or biennials for people with different abilities (in collaboration with IKSV)?
  • A critical study of one of the emerging technologies for justice ethics, dilemmas of accessibility (VR, IoT, AR)

Making and Crafts

  • Designing tools for gendered crafts practices (Knitting communities)
  • Handcrafts and their relation to technology and design
  • Interactive toy/book designed for children to tell them about different health conditions

Designing a Toolkit

  • Designing a tool for evaluating the success of sharing platforms that work without money (Kadikoy Kooperatifi, Buyukdere Gida Kooperatifi),
  • Developing a tool for increasing the visibility of citizen-led approaches for municipalities
