A Self Ethnographic Study on Getting Around in a University Campus

Team: Zeynep Yıldız, Özge Subaşı
Timeframe: 2019

In this ethnographic study, we reveal the first-person experience on getting around on a university campus. The campus is curated by different people all the time and this study aims to reveal first authors’ experiences of making the campus accessible by using different objects and places in different ways. So, we present various instances that exemplify different uses of objects and places in a campus to make things accessible by using empowerment and appropriation. This study led us to ask further questions such as who curates the campus officially, who are the gatekeepers that make decisions around campus accessibility for students with disabilities?
